Jubilee Confectionery is a traditional sweet shop based in Beamish, The North of England Open Air Museum and set in the pre First World War time of 1913.
The Internationally renowned museum has won many awards for its unique interpretation of North Eastern social history.
The portrayal of everyday life in the early 1800's and 1900's is so well executed that you will remember your experience long after your visit.
On entering the sweetshop you will hear the bell ring. Feast your eyes on the wonderful array of glass jars full of sweets of every colour and shape.
Memories of those long forgotten favourites will come flooding back.
Enjoy a welcome from our staff who will help you make your choice from the overwhelming range of sweets on offer.
This range includes over twenty of our own traditional home-made varieties.
No visit to our shop is complete without going into the sweet factory where you can see demonstrations of sweet making every day.
Watch while the sugar boiler boils the ingredients in huge copper pans,
then cuts the sweets into various shapes and sizes using the authentic brass rollers and hand operated machinery.
Listen to the sweet boiler talk you through the production whilst you take in the wonderful smells and wait to sample the 'sweet of the day'.
Tempted? Why not buy some sweets on line and then you could visit us at the museum for a truly memorable experience.
